Welcome!
Congratulations on your assignment to Germany! Moving to Europe is a little different that to CONUS installations. Language barriers, driving rules, passport requirements and more, can present additional challenges. Your sponsor is a great resource to answer questions and guide you during your PCS planning, travel and integration.
Once you land in Germany you will receive a series of briefings from the aircrew, 86th Airlift Wing, Customs agents and finally the Ramstein Army Reception Center, or RARC. The RARC provides reception, staging and onward movement to Soldiers and Family members assigned to Germany. We establish theater accountability of arriving PCS Soldiers and their Family, verify and/or amend assignment instructions, coordinate arrivals with gaining community Central Processing Facilities and arrange commercial transportation to your gaining military community.
Being stationed overseas can be a great experience, but taking the leap across the pond and adapting to the new circumstances in Germany also takes some time and effort. The ne culture, different "do's' and "don'ts" in social interactions; and of course, the language barrier. Sometimes its hard to get the right answers if you don't know where to find them. There are plenty of contact points we can help you get in touch with!
